The goal of a focus isn't really to make it fit, it's essentially to complete your archetype. While it doesn't fits nano all that much, I still want to see how does that goes for me. The fact that you're basically buying a cat in a bag(since you're not shown tier progression), doesn't makes things better either.įor my first playthrough, I've decided to go with defense foci on my intellectual nano. Not only it's a lack of diversity (I don't even think the boni stack) but it's a clear breach of numenera core rule stating that party members are not allowed to use the same focus. seriously that's just boring, they should either pick another focus for Tybir or remove it from the castoff choice. The main issue I got with silver tongue is actually that a NPC already got it. It's okay, just not that good of a T4 passive I would say. Tier 4 : invigoring conversation refill your intellect pool when you crit on persuasion, deception and intimidation tasks. Cost 3 intellect and lasts 3 turns so it can be tricky to manage without int edge, but you wouldn't use it more than once in battle anyway. Tier 3 is sow dismay, which is basically an area debuff around you (-20% willpower, -10% evasion - 15% to all tasks). Tier 2 will get you dealmaker (5% bonus to selling and buying items) which is okay for everyone and inspiring presence (aura : +5% evasion, +5% willpower, +5% on all tasks), which gives a little bit of defence and hit chance for you and the party. Silver tongue isn't that suboptimal, it's the kind of focus that will change your glaive into a paladin kind of character.Īt tier 1 you get natural charisma which is good whatever type you pick, since the game has a lot of talking, and intimidation tends to rely on might, so at least you'll get better checks for that.
